Speaking backstage at the Capital FM 'Jingle Bell Ball', the 21-year-old admitted that she feels proud that the song became one of the biggest-selling hits of the year without any initial radio support.
"It shows big organisations like Radio 1 and certain TV shows that maybe just what we give the public isn't necessarily all they want," she told Digital Spy.
"Maybe they do want something a bit more alternative, maybe they don't want the same stuff farmed out all year and just repeats of what we've already had.
"'In for the Kill' definitely showed that, and that was a great thing for us and proved that music can cut through the crap."
