The album - Aguilera's first studio set since 2006's Back To Basics - has the working title Light & Darkness and is expected to feature collaborations with Goldfrapp, Ladytron and M.I.A, as well as regular Aguilera producer Linda Perry, 'Umbrella' hitmaker Tricky Stewart and R&B duo The Neptunes.
Aguilera, 29, also confirmed that her first film - the movie musical Burlesque, in which she stars alongside Cher and Stanley Tucci - will be released later in 2010.
"I'm so thrilled about the New Year to come with the release of the album and the release of the movie," she told reporters at a Las Vegas New Year's Eve party. "It'll be March next year for the album and Thanksgiving weekend for Burlesque."
Aguilera has released four studio albums and a Greatest Hits compilation since making her chart debut in 1999, notching up 14 UK top ten hits with tracks including 'Beautiful', 'Genie In A Bottle' and 'Dirrty'.
