The Tennessee rockers, who released fourth LP Only By The Night in September 2008, have allegedly put their new past-time ahead of working on fresh material.
"They love golf, they can't get enough of it," a source told The Sun. "Nathan is a brilliant player but Caleb is having a good go and snapping at his heels.
"Everyone hopes they will have another album out this year but they're in no rush. They are really enjoying life away from the studio."
According to reports, drummer Nathan is the best golfer of the group, forcing his bandmates to spend more time improving their game.
Kings of Leon recently revealed that they intend to take a six-month break before returning to work on their fifth album.
