The former Verve singer has been working with No ID, who produced Jay-Z's 'Run This Town' and 'DOA (Death Of Autotune)', on the record, which is being mixed by long-time collaborator Chris Potter.
According to NME, Ashcroft will return this year with new band United Nations of Sound.
Ashcroft released third solo album Keys To The World in January 2006, peaking at number two on the UK albums chart.
The Verve reportedly split for a third time in September amid speculation that Ashcroft's bandmates believed he was more interested in his solo career.
