Massive Attack: 'Albarn was very strict'

Massive Attack's Robert '3D' Del Naja has said that Damon Albarn was very structured when he worked with the band on their new album.

Albarn collaborated with the group for two tracks on Heligoland, but 3D told NME that the Blur frontman was wary of getting bogged down in the project.

3D said: "He was like, 'I want to work with you, but I'm not getting sucked into some nine-year-long Bristol dope-haze'.

"He said, 'We'll work 10am to 6pm, at my studio, for five days and that'll be it'. The irony was that it was him who ended up instigating all the bad behaviour!"

Albarn plays keyboards on 'Splitting The Atom' and sings on the album's 'Saturday Come Slow'. The disc also features input from Tunde Adebimpe, Martina Topley-Bird, Horace Andy, Guy Garvey and Hope Sandoval.
