The Scot, whose debut LP I Dreamed A Dream was the biggest-selling album of 2009, is allegedly not up for any gongs at the annual music ceremony.
More than 1,000 record industry and media professionals voted on the shortlist, which is announced later today.
"The problem for the Brits is they're supposed to be a celebration of British music - and cool," a source told the Daily Mail.
"And whatever anyone thinks of Susan Boyle, she certainly isn't cool. She's not even shortlisted for 'Best Female', even though that's usually the weakest category.
"And it's not just an attack on Susan. It also shows how Simon Cowell is regarded by many in the record business."
The 30th Brit Awards are held at Earl's Court Arena in London on February 16.
Cheryl Cole, Robbie Williams, Lady GaGa, JLS, Kasabian, Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine have been confirmed to perform at the ceremony.
