The ex-Flowered Up frontman was found dead at his Kings Cross flat by his girlfriend, the Camden New Journal reports.
A St Pancras inquest was told that Maher, released from prison 11 days before his death, had been planning to go on holiday and move in with his partner.
The singer had eight times the fatal level of heroin in his blood and coroner Sean McGovern recorded a verdict of misuse of drugs, adding that there was no evidence of suicide.
Maher's 18-year-old daughter Tao said outside the court: "There hasn't been a day when he hasn't been at the forefront of my mind."
