Genesis are to be inducted into the Hall this March.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the singer-songwriter said that he's not even sure if he will attend the event.
"As far as I know, I'm definitely not going to sing," Gabriel said.
He added: "I'm trying to find a way to do it. It's not easy. If I can work it out, I'll go."
Gabriel fronted the band from 1967 to 1975 before departing to focus on a solo career.
