The pair recently teamed up with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich as Hot Rats and have recorded their favourite songs by the Sex Pistols, Beastie Boys and David Bowie.
"We've got a close relationship in music and outside of music," Coombes told the Daily Star.
"It's not so much Morecambe and Wise, more like Cannon and Ball because we can't rock on without each other. Some people ride bikes in their spare time but we just make music."
Supergrass rose to fame with debut album I Should Coco in 1995, which topped the UK charts and sold 900,000 copies worldwide. Their sixth record Diamond Hoo Ha was released in March 2008.
