The decision came after the band returned stateside from an Australian tour and guitarist Benji Madden first listened to a rough cut of the album. "We had pretty much finished recording the record," Madden posted on Good Charlotte's website. "I went into the studio to hear some roughs and it just wasn't right."
"I called all the boys immediately and called an emergency meeting," Madden said. "And I just said 'Guys, we gotta start over'. Everyone agreed."
The band is currently re-recording Cardiology, a follow-up to their 2007 release Good Morning Revival, in a studio in Vancouver, Canada with producer Don Gilmore.
