Tinie Tempah has revealed that he was inspired by the So Solid Crew.

The East London rapper, whose sound has been compared to Tinchy Stryder, admitted that he decided to make music after watching a music video by the garage collective.

"My whole life just changed, I vividly remember watching the television and going ballistic," he told BBC Newsbeat.

"I remember thinking, 'What is this? This is absolutely amazing'. That was like pandemonium, the So Solid Crew phenomena.

"Ultimately if it wasn't for them we may not have even been here doing what we're doing. The standards they set have definitely inspired a lot of the next generation of grime, urban or garage MCs. They did an amazing job."

Tine Tempah is supporting Chipmunk on his tour in February. He releases debut single 'Pass Out' on March 1.
