The four-piece, who scooped the 'Record Of The Year' gong for 'Use Somebody', made the confession during their acceptance speech.
"I'm not going to lie, we're all a little drunk. But we're happy drunks," Caleb Followill said.
'Use Somebody', which was released in December 2008, beat off competition from Beyoncé's 'Halo', Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling', Taylor Swift's 'You Belong With Me' and Lady GaGa's 'Poker Face'.
Kings of Leon also won the award for 'Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals'.
