Orlando Weeks has confirmed that he made the leather lungs sported by Florence Welch on her chart-topping album cover while he was on tour.

The Maccabees frontman told Metro that the task of making the prop for Florence and the Machine's Lungs LP was a time-consuming one.

Weeks said: "I was going for a Victoriana, industrial punchbag kind of look. It took ages - I was on tour while I was working on those lungs."

Welch has revealed that she made the other band members leave the room while Weeks "got to stick some lungs to my boobs".

Speaking about The Maccabees' upcoming plans, Weeks said: "This is the last UK tour before we do another record - after this, the plan is to dedicated ourselves wholeheartedly to writing new songs."
