Although early figures suggested an even split, when duplicate votes were discounted it was found that 60.12% of people voted in favour of keeping flags, with 39.88% against.
A statement read: "The topic of whether flags should be banned from in front of the Pyramid Stage at the festival seems to have been cropping up a bit recently.
"Our gut feeling here at Festival HQ is that they shouldn't be banned, as we think they add to the magic of a big Pyramid Stage performance."
It continued: "But we wanted to find out what you folks think - so, if you have an opinion, please vote by clicking below. Thanks!
"We'll be discounting duplicate votes from the final result. So please don't vote more than once."
Earlier this month, the Download Festival confirmed that it would be banning flags from its main arena for this year's event.
