Their single 'Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)', which features Vanilla Ice, was beaten to the top spot by Owl City with 'Fireflies'.
However, the Grimes twins still believe that they can chart at number one, pledging: "Don't write us off yet."
Meanwhile, an insider told the Daily Record: "The physical copies of the single don't go on sale until February 15 and there will be lots of people wanting one.
"They kept Timbaland's new single at number three and did well to fend him off. It's far too early to be writing them off yet."
This is the second time in a row that an X Factor act has failed to reach number one in the first week of their single's release, as Joe McElderry's 'The Climb' was beaten by Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name' at Christmas.
