The 'Fireflies' singer, who denied the X Factor twins their first number one with 'Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)', revealed that he does not watch any television.
"I don't really know what's going on in the world of entertainment, what's popular or anything about reality TV," he told the Daily Star.
"I grew up in a family who didn't watch TV so I don't have one now.
"I think it's cool to be mentioned in the same sentence as stars like Jedward as the amount of success that I've had for what I'm doing is so unexpected. Needless to say, I'm pretty thrilled."
The star, real name Adam Young, has reached the top spot in the US, Australia and Ireland with his debut single.
Owl City releases album Ocean Eyes on February 15.
