The 'Fire' singer revealed that the Leicester rockers hope to complete the record before the end of the year, and predicted that the follow-up to last year's West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum will see the four-piece become "a serious band".
He told BANG Showbiz: "When we reached West Ryder, we became a band, a serious band in my opinion.
"But the best thing is about our band, is that we get to make a fourth album, and I think the fourth album will be our peak, and I think we'll be around for another 10 or 15 years, we'll be around for a while."
Meighan added that guitarist and chief songwriter Serge Pizzorno has been looking to take a radical departure from the sound of their last album.
He explained: "Serge's got a tune that's like a Nirvana tune, it's got a crunch hook on it. It's awesome, so we've got some amazing new songs, and we're always trying to better the last album. It'll be completely different to West Ryder, so hopefully by the end of this year we'll have a fourth album.
"We're doing the demos in Leicester and then taking it somewhere else to finish it."
