Former G4 star Ben Thapa has announced details of a solo concert on February 27.

The opera singer, who rose to fame with the group after appearing on The X Factor in 2004, will perform material from his album Songs From My Childhood at Southfields Baptist Church in Wimbledon Park Road, London.

G4 secured a £1.5m album deal with Sony after finishing second on the ITV1 show. They shifted 245,000 copies of their chart-topping debut album.

Discussing their split after releasing a third LP in 2007, Thapa admitted that it was a "hard decision".

"It lasted three years and that's a big difference between me being 22 and me being 25. Most people when they leave college the first thing they do is sign on" he told YourLocalGuardian.

"I was lucky to go straight into this great job for three years. But there is a difference between that and what you want to do with your life.

"We just got to the agreement that we all had different dreams and ambitions."

Tickets for the show cost £7 and are on sale now on Thapa's website.
