Damon Albarn has promised that Gorillaz will be playing some "big gigs" in 2010.

However, the singer, who is the co-creator of the animated pop group, ruled out the possibility of the band appearing at this year's Glastonbury.

"Are we playing any UK festivals? I wouldn't want to go and play Glastonbury or anything because I think it would be very difficult and I would be setting myself a very high benchmark," he told NME.

"But we are definitely going to play some big gigs in the UK, or in England, or in London or whatever. This year. Definitely.

"The band are sounding really good and I'm really excited about it. I try to keep myself busy, I don't think it's good to rest on your laurels."

Gorillaz release their Plastic Beach album, the follow-up to 2005's Demon Days, on March 8.
