The singer recently issued a statement after departing from longtime label Epic Records, owned by Sony, this week.
According to Showbiz Spy, the 40-year-old, who gave birth to twins in 2008, has struggled to come to terms with her waning career.
A source revealed: "She's gone from being one of the world's biggest stars to being dropped by her record label. It’s been a bitter pill to swallow.
"I'm sure she'll pick herself up and bounce back, but she's not in a good place right now as far as her career is concerned," the insider added. "Jennifer is really depressed over the state of her career."
Lopez's new single 'Louboutins' reportedly gave Sony little confidence in the star's upcoming album Love, which is now unlikely to be released.
