In an interview with Artist Direct, the 'Remedy' singer confirmed that fans can expect her to build on the sound she used on her debut LP Hands.
The star - real name Victoria Hesketh - explained: "The last album was fantastical and magic. It takes you away to another dimension, and I think the next album will be rawer and a bit more down-to-earth.
"It'll still be magical, but quite dark and spooky at the same time. Hands hints at it."
The 25-year-old added that her song 'Ghost' is the best example of the direction she wants to go in, explaining: "That's one of my favourite songs. It feels really honest and quite weird.
"It was inspired by some poetry that I was reading. There's the feeling of being ignored."
Little Boots also said that she may look to Edgar Allen Poe's poetry for inspiration when she works on her new record, saying: "It's that dark side that I like."
