Speaking to the Chicago Tribune, Casablancas said that they have been working on the project in their hometown of New York.
Describing the as-yet-untitled full-length as having a "different feel" to the band's previous albums, he also confirmed that it is being earmarked for a September release.
"I've written a lot of melodies for it," Casablancas said. "But the other guys have also contributed a lot more: melodies, choruses, parts. It's way more collaborative. So it'll have a different feel than our other albums."
The singer went on to speak about the five-piece's headline stint at Chicago's Lollapalooza Festival 2010, ahead of their slots at Isle of Wight festival and Rockness later this year.
"We're getting the biggest offers of our career," he added of The Strokes' festival plans. "It feels great, because I remember people writing things like, 'We'll see if they're still around in ten years', when we first came out."
