The film, starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, tells the story of Currie's band with Joan Jett.
Speaking to Billboard, Currie explained that the movie has "absolutely" made her want to perform again.
"I know I'm going to be doing shows over the summer," she said. "I've written a few songs. We'll see what happens. Am I banking on it? No. I've got my chainsaw and my wood and I'm very happy. But I know I'm going to be doing some things here and there and we'll see what comes of it."
Currie also admitted that she loved returning to the studio with Jett to record songs for the movie's soundtrack, explaining: "We were on the mark. It was incredible. We had a fantastic time."
She added that she is hoping to reunite with Jett in the future to work on some new material.
"We plan to do it again, one day soon," she said. "We're definitely going to work together in music."
