The band, who released their last album Only By The Night in 2008, said that they have the "itch" to play some new songs.
"We are stoked to get back on the road. We've had a little break and are starting to get that itch," the Daily Star quotes drummer Nathan Followill as saying.
"It will be cool to see if we can sneak in some new s**t to see if the kids dig it. Late April the next musical adventure begins."
Kings of Leon will headline London's Hyde Park gig on June 30 and the V Festival on August 22.
