Doubts were cast over the band's future in February when the bassist confirmed that they were on a hiatus which could become permanent.
Frontman Patrick Stump, currently working on a solo album, later fuelled speculation that the rockers were finished when he admitted that he no longer considered himself a part of the group.
However, while Wentz refused to be drawn on Fall Out Boy's long-term plans, he was adamant that the four-piece needed a break from each other in order to salvage their inter-band relations.
He told Reuters: "Rather than get to the stage where we would break up or not be friends with each other, we chose to just take a break. If and when we come back it will be for the right reasons, because it's fun again, [because] we want to be on tour."
