Homme said that he is relishing the prospect of the US rockers' fifth appearance at the event and the freedom that comes with being able to play without having to promote a record.
He told NME: "What I love about this one is we have nothing to promote, no reason to be there. We're just there to kick ass! I want to get everybody dancing! We just want to give it to them.
"It's kind of like reuniting with an old flame, you know, in your old town. So frankly, it's like going home again and having a nice shag."
When asked for his abiding memories of the group's previous stints at the festival - in
2000, 2001, 2005 and 2008 - Homme simply answered: "I have memories of nudity and fire."
He also affirmed that the band will return to the studio following the completion of their summer festival appearances, adding: "We're going to make a new record, I'm looking forward to it. We're already sharing the goodies with each other, it feels like a brand new band."
