The singer, who released her debut record One of the Boys nearly two years ago, spoke about the sounds that have influenced her new LP.
Perry told MTV: "It's going to be one of those records that is everybody's favourite guilty pleasure."
The 25-year-old cited Ace of Base's 'The Sign' and Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' as major sounds that feature on the release. She also said that California was an inspiration, claiming: "I'm a California girl."
Perry added that she has teamed up with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo and some "West Coast rappers" on the LP.
Perry's sophomore album is due for release this summer.
