The concept rock opera, originally released in 1979, is widely regarded as one of the prog-rockers' most influential albums. Waters is due to play 35 dates across the continent backed by a full band and state-of-the-art stage production.
He told Spinner that he believes the group's seminal record, one of the top five selling albums of all time in the US, is still relevant 31 years after they released it.
"This new production of The Wall is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to all the innocent lost in the intervening years," he said.
The tour kicks off in Toronto on September 15, concluding in California on December 13.
