The band, who yesterday unveiled details of their new album Night Work, admitted that they nearly cancelled the LP's release.
Band member and songwriter BabyDaddy told the Daily Star: "There was a lot of material, but it didn't make sense.
"I only wanted Scissor Sisters to come back if there was a reason for us to come back, and if there had been enough of a change to fill up the airwaves."
Ana Matronic added: "We realised we didn't need to make the same album again. So, there are no ballads: Night Work is a dance record."
Night Work will be released on June 28. It will be preceded by the single 'Fire With Fire' on June 20.
