The announcement comes after event organiser Festival Republic successfully forced the closure of two fake fanpages which both claimed to be giving away tickets to Reading.
In a statement, it said: "This particular scam involves people registering for free tickets and is essentially a third party phishing personal information such as email addresses."
Bosses for the bash have warned fans that they should only buy tickets from licenced websites, outlets and partners.
The Reading and Leeds Festivals, held from August 27 to August 29, will be headlined by Guns N' Roses, Arcade Fire and Blink-182.
