The 'Purple Rain' popstar will play the event as part of a three-date tour around Europe in July, confirmed eFestivals.
He will top the Roskilde bill on Sunday, July 4. It will be his first Danish concert since 2002. The singer will also perform at Arras, France on July 9 and at Werchter's Festival Park on July 9.
Roskilde's music director Rikke Øxner said that he had to "pinch himself" when he finally sealed the deal with the US star.
"Getting Prince to Roskilde Festival has been on our wish list for years," he said. "He's not a frequent guest at festivals, so it's a great honour for us. It's wonderful finally to be able to tell this great news to our audience."
Other acts confirmed for the festival include Gorillaz, Muse, Patti Smith, Pavement and Them Crooked Vultures. Tickets are currently on sale for the four-day event.
