According to MTV, the Grammy Award-winning band are scoring Coppola's upcoming movie Somewhere.
"[Coppola] asked us to do some music, very in the spirit of [the single] 'Love Like a Sunset,' so we tried to put that track and elements of the track in the movie, and it worked well," Phoenix guitarist Christian Mazzalai said.
He added: "And then we wrote very small pieces of music, very minimal music for the movie too... We're very proud of it."
Somewhere features Stephen Dorff as a "bad boy actor" who gets an unexpected visit from his 11-year-old daughter.
Coppola is the girlfriend of Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars.
