Sandi Thom: 'I wouldn't change anything'

The 'I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker' singer split from her record label Sony last year after her second LP The Pink & The Lily failed to match the sales of her debut.
Thom was signed by Sony after she sparked media interest with a series of webcasts from her home in Tooting. However, she faced criticism from elements of the music industry, who suggested that her gigs may have been a PR stunt.
"I wouldn't change anything if I could go back. I'm a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason," Thom told PA.
"This is such an unpredictable business, so things can happen out of the blue. I think that's part of the attraction, the fact that it's so unexpected and so chaotic at times, that's when good things happen, it takes you by surprise.
"I'm very happy through all the different experiences that I did, from making the first album five years ago to doing the webcasts and then being a part of the media frenzy that it brought, and then feeling the double-edged sword of it, being on a major label for two years."
Speaking about her departure from Sony, she added: "When you get dropped by a label, it's like losing your job - it's going to hurt your pride a little bit, and it knocks your confidence and the wind out of you for a while."
Thom will release her third album Merchants And Thieves on June 7.
