The incarcerated rapper, who is serving a six-month sentence after pleading guilty to charges of probation violation, is suing the heads of an entertainment company alleging they withheld his payments.
Attorneys for DMX filed the suit in New York on Monday, reports the New York Daily News. The suit accuses executives at Rich Kid Entertainment of pocketing 100% of the rapper's revenue from a contract signed ten years ago. The court papers claim they were only supposed to take a 10% cut.
"DMX has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and has had No. 1 singles and albums on the Billboard charts, which in turn have generated a great amount of revenue for Defendants, but has left (DMX) with nothing," the documents read.
The suit also claims that DMX, real name Earl Simmons, did not learn of the fraudulent act until last year due to other legal troubles.
