Marc Warren, who appeared alongside Vickers in The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice earlier this year, described the singer as "a real special talent".
Speaking to DS at the launch of BBC3's upcoming Boy George drama Worried About The Boy, in which he plays singer/nightclub host Steve Strange, Warren revealed that he had spoken to Vickers "straight after" her debut single 'Once' reached No.1 on Sunday.
"We're great pals and I think she's just brilliant. She gave her album to me on the last night of Little Voice and I love it," he said.
"I think she's a real special talent and I think this is just the start of a great career. She kind of reminds me of Kate Bush a little bit actually - I know Kate Bush started out at around her age."
Vickers's debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree is released on Monday.
