The singer joins fellow popstar Christina Aguilera on the show’s performance lineup, according to MTV News. Perry previously appeared at the network’s Video Music Awards in September 2009 where she performed Queen’s 'We Will Rock You'.
"I'm proud to represent the West Coast at the MTV Movie Awards in the magical glow of the Hollywood sign with my new single 'California Gurls’. I hope it will be the theme song to a lot of summer loving; I know it will in my house,” she said.
The awards, which will air June 6, will also feature celebrity presenters such as Tom Cruise, Zac Efron, and Steve Carrell.
