The 20-year-old, who also performed at Tuesday night's ceremony, is the youngest songwriter ever to be given the honour, reports Access Hollywood.
When asked about the prestigious win, the star admitted that the experience was "so cool".
"This is just one of those amazing things that I can't believe has happened to me this year. To be 20 and to be put on a list like this is just sort of mindblowing."
It was recently announced that Swift is to be inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame next month.
