The daughter of French superstar Serge Gainsbourg recently toured the US as a musician before appearing at Cannes to support her new film The Tree.
Gainsbourg told the press conference for the film: 'It's very wonderful to go from one to the other - from singer to actress.
"I don't know what it was when I was in the US when the concerts were taking place. I was different. It was another moment of life. I hope I get back to that. I've got a little bit of apprehension, but there's no link between the two."
On having to sing for one scene in her new film, she added: "I had to sing Bach. I found it extremely intimidating. I was very uneasy about it.
"Have you ever tried to sing Bach? I didn't have the necessary fantasy - I just couldn't manage."
