The ceremony, which will take place on June 2 at the White House, will include appearances by many of McCartney's fellow artists, including Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill and the Jonas Brothers, reports The AP.
Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello and Jack White are amongst the other stars that will perform at the event.
The award, which was first given to Paul Simon in 2007, is said to be the highest honour in pop music.
