The Cribs' Ryan Jarman and Johnny Marr will contribute to the LP alongside Nick McCarthy and Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand, reports NME.
Other musicians signed to take part in the recording include The Magic Numbers singer Romeo Stodart and Roddy Frame from Aztec Camera.
The former Orange Juice singer will also support the album, his first since suffering from two cerebral haemorrhages in 2005, with a trio of UK concert dates.
The 12-track LP will be released on September 13.
