The Grammy-winning popstar will be presented with a lifetime achievement honour at the cable network's upcoming awards ceremony.

Past recipients of the prize include James Brown, Whitney Houston and Diana Ross
Queen Latifah will host the tenth annual awards show, which airs on BET on June 27. Kanye West is scheduled to perform.
