The singer performed in Tel Aviv on Thursday despite pressure to from human rights groups to boycott the country in protest of the flotilla controversy off the Gaza coast, The Jerusalem Post reports.
"Shalom, we are so happy to be back here! Ain't nothing gonna stop us from coming, baby," John said during his performance.
He added: "Musicians spread love and peace, and bring people together. That's what we do. We don't cherry-pick our conscience."
The popstar was referring to other artists who have cancelled concerts in the region, including Elvis Costello, Santana and the Pixies.
More than 50,000 people attended the Thursday night show.
