The singer-songwriter from Hackney, East London - who will release her debut album on Island Records later this year - told Digital Spy that she has been consistently impressed with the 'Bad Romance' singer.
"I think she's important for modern pop music. We haven't had a hugely successful popstar with a subtext since Madonna," she said.
Cocknbullkid - real name Anita Blay - also defended GaGa against accusations that her music is less interesting than her image.
"To me that doesn't make sense," she insisted. "I think she's got the perfect combination of real straight up catchy pop music and something else behind it. That's how you hit the masses. If her songs were seven-minute experimental pieces, no-one would know who she was."
