Damon Albarn has suggested that Lou Reed will perform with Gorillaz at this year's Glastonbury festival.

The former Blur frontman recently expressed hopes that Reed would be able to join him on stage at this year's event to reprise his vocal contribution to his group's last album Plastic Beach.

Albarn told BBC Radio 4's Front Row: "Lou Reed [is] arriving and, fingers crossed, coming straight to rehearsal. And then we watch the game.

"Strict alcohol ban, which is not in our nature, but considering how much we've got to get done..."

He added: "This morning I woke up and the first thing I felt a wave of anxiety about - is an audience that size going to respond to our songs? I don't know."

Other artists tipped to appear with Gorillaz include Mark E. Smith, Shaun Ryder, De La Soul, Gruff Rhyss, Mos Def, Pharcyde and the Syrian National Orchestra.
