The band were forced to cancel their headlining slot at this year's festival following Bono's back surgery. However, fellow band member The Edge still performed when he joined Muse on stage on Saturday.
Speaking to the BBC about The Edge's appearance, Eavis said: "He enjoyed the experience and he's had a taste of playing now so I'm sure the band are really keen to do it when it suits them."
Eavis revealed that he had "three really good headliners next year", adding: "I'm not telling you who they are."
Of a possible future appearance for U2, he said "This is an ongoing conversation for next year."
