The band's final release was October 2004 single 'What Became of the Likely Lads', but the group has reformed for this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Speaking to NME at Glastonbury, Barat said: "The Libertines - we haven't done any preparation yet, apart from being in touch. I am sending Pete [Doherty] a song - actually I must email that today - maybe we'll do something with that.
"We're going to rehearse before the gigs, obviously. It's all pretty natural. Generally it just comes together - you're starting to get me a bit worried now! Nah, it's going to be great."
Of his own upcoming solo album, he added: "It feels totally different. Essentially it's a lot more selfish. But... it comes from the heart and it's a different sound. It's hard to say, because it's hard to see the wood for the trees when you're in the middle of it. It's different. It's very truthful, exposed.
"We've got a tour in October, a UK tour, little venues. That'll be me getting used to it really. First time I've been on my own. Could get lonely actually... nah, I'll be alright."
