The '1973' singer performed a 20-minute set to more than 150 fans on board the Boeing 767.
Blunt, who beat the previous record of 35,000ft set by Jay Kay, promised to brag about the feat to the Jamiroquai frontman, reports The Sun.
"I'm going to ring and have a good gloat. I can't resist," he said, before joking: "I've reached the peak of my career. I'll have to retire."
The 36-year-old received a framed award for the gig, organised by Heart FM, and promised to hang it above his toilet.
