The former Smiths and Electronic member played guitar on the recording together with an orchestra and composer Hans Zimmer, NME reports.
Marr said: "I enjoyed working on Inception and it's a great soundtrack. Hans invited me and he's someone I've wanted to work with for a long time. We really got into it, it's a really good movie."
The musician recently recorded the soundtrack to the Tony Krantz-directed The Big Bang.
