'Defender' is the third song taken from her sophomore album Ten, which peaked at number 28 on the UK album chart.
Discussing the video for the track with Digital Spy, Cilmi said: "I'd love to do a video for that song in a battlefield - nice and dramatic!"
Brand new song 'Magic Carpet Ride' is the the title track from new film Soul Boy, a 1970s drama about the Northern soul underground music scene.
Cilmi's previous single 'Hearts Don't Lie' reached number 134 on the UK singles chart.
'Defender/Magic Carpet Ride' will be released on August 22.
