The singer told Q that he decided to pursue a career in music after attending a concert by the cult rock band.
"The Wedding Present were the first band I saw live," he explained.
"I went to see them at Bristol University when I was 14... I even remember my mum dropping me off. After that gig I knew I wanted to be a musician."
Cullum is currently on tour in the US.
